Nokia finally took Microsoft. The alliance of two giants is expected to ‘save’ Nokia from the slump caused Android invasion in the last two years.
Through the collaboration, Nokia plans to use Microsoft’s operating system, Windowa Mobile Phone. Not only the operating system, Nokia also will use Microsoft developed ecosystem for future development.
Steps taken by Nokia, apparently not solely intended to polish performance smartphone which diminished during the year 2010. Moreover, through this partnership, Nokia wants to develop a new concept of global mobile ecosystem, to sustain growth in all Nokia products.
Through this new approach, Nokia apparently was targeting the consumer for the next billion mobile internet services, especially in countries emerging mobile market broadbandnya. As disclosed Nokia boss Stephen Elop, Nokia was in a critical point and must make a change for no worse off.
Cooperation with Microsoft – which incidentally is the alma mater Elop, is expected to accelerate changes that are expected, regain leadership in the smartphone segment – which had eroded by the presence of Android, the smartphone platform to sharpen and future investment. Nokia with the Microsoft ecosystem is optimistic will be able to achieve that goal.
In short, Nokia decided Microsoft will become the main platform. What about Symbian, Nokia will be left? It seems that Nokia will not mencampakan granted. However Symbian still has a market. Currently there are around 200 million which brings the Symbian Nokia phones. Symbian market potential is still large, there are about 150 million units.
Nokia is still going to take care of MeeGo which will be developed as open source. Even Nokia makes the operating system in collaboration with Intel and AMD will become a long-term project to support development of devices, platforms and new experiences of new users. Nokia itself will release a gadget platform MeeGo.
There is then speculated that MeeGo will be the Nokia tablet platform. Moreover, it has been used in Fujitsu’s OS for netbooks and Nokia itself plans to release a tablet.
So, what would digaet Nokia from Microsoft? Nokia seem to be aware of changes in the cellular industry today. The main cellular players admit even this late in anticipation, so that the platform developed difficult to pursue open source platform that was booming at this time, including the synergy between a widespread application in the realm of open source.
Naturally, if through a partnership with Microsoft will happen differentiation and innovation. Thus, Nokia is able to do the optimization of hardware, platform customization, that the more extensive language support, as well as an increasingly large scale to the smartphone.
Nokia and Microsoft also will create synergy between applications. In this case the existing applications and content on Ovi Store – apparently, will be integrated into the Microsoft Marketplace. The goal, there is widespread market applications and content that has been developed through Ovi Store.
Nokia itself also will supply Microsoft Marketplace with applications and content. This is possible after Microsoft provides developer tools that will facilitate the development of content and applications at Nokia, to develop products compatible with the Microsoft platform.
